The Tri-Chairs have reminded their colleagues that increasing the number of women on the faculty and retaining them must be a shared university goal. It is the faculty, after all, not the department chairs, nor the mother sex video deans, nor the President mother sex video or Provost, who make the hiring decisions. In March, the Senate Executive Committee created an ad hoc Committee on Faculty Development to examine the means of improving faculty mentoring, to investigate the possibility of mother sex video clarifying the issue of quality versus quantity in faculty promotions, and to study best practices at Penn and elsewhere with respect to achieving equityÑincluding gender and minority equityÑacross the university. The hope is to make this ad hoc committee a standing committee, which requires the approval of the entire Senate membership. In the meantime, the ad hoc committee, under the leadership of Debra Leonard in the School of Medicine, has begun its work. Although it is far too soon to see any dramatic changes, it is anticipated that increasing the numbers of women in departments where there have been few women faculty will effect a culture change that will
