(could be dangerous given my short - yet somehow still long - record here. ) suffice it to say there are no reasons that come to mind to have it and many to abolish it. stupid texans. i do however, despite the lack of facts, find it hard to believe that the accuser was actually the criminal in this instance.

I am not a lawyer but there is a strong legal issue here. The woodbine girl did not claim rape or abuse. Apparently she was consenting and possibly even misled her partner about here real age. As I understand the swedish court system, verdicts are not pronounced by juries, but woodbine instead by a panel of legal professionals. This probably results in a clearer application of the laws woodbine of the country than with a jury of lay people who cannot avoid emotions. AS I said in a previous post, we do not have many facts, maybe the girl was the criminal for inciting another to commit a crime, we just don't know. No system is perfect, but I prefer the risk of a guily person walking free over an innocent person being jailed, or executed, as happens in the US.
