Agency: US Department of Education: National Institute donations for donations Disability and Rehabilitation Research Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is an emergent disability and a significant public health concern, particularly for women and under-served minority groups. This project evaluates the efficacy, replicability, and sustainability of peer-based intervention strategies applied to individuals with CFS as implemented within a Center for Independent Living setting. Applying theoretical frameworks of empowerment theory, participatory action research, control theory, and the new paradigm of disability, we anticipate that this community-based intervention will improve overall quality of life, donations functional capacity, illness severity, coping, and service utilization among individuals with CFS. In addition, we predict that the intervention will serve to increase knowledge and awareness of CFS among Center for Independent Living staff. |
