| Chidam-baram on Monday said the government and the Reserve east mountain Bank of India would announce steps on capital account convertibility of the Indian rupee in the next few days. “The Prime Minister had made a very definitive statement on Saturday and the RBI and the government will announce the next steps (on capital account convertibility) in a few days from now,” Mr Chidambaram said at a function organised east mountain by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).However, Left parties have opposed the move and have slammed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for going ahead with east mountain the move without consulting the Left parties.
