Because of this, the movie feels as authentic as it is hilarious.Steve Carrell plays Andy, the film’s central character and virgin. Andy is like the grown-up version of one of those kids from “Freaks and Geeks”; his apartment is decorated with collectible action figures, framed anime posters and completes itself with a recliner technology designed solely for technology playing videogames. His place of work is a bicycle ride away- having no driver’s license- as a long time stock manager at an electronics store. While this lifestyle seems normal for a technology 40 year-old virgin, his co-workers speculate, some think he’s just quiet, others suspect he’s a bona fide serial killer. Those co-workers reluctantly invite him to an after-work poker game where his true “condition” is revealed; Andy gives himself away after likening women’s breasts to bags of sand.
