There is a reason Jews make children "Adults" at 13; they are usually quite capable of the decisions (although still "youths") at that point. Many cultures marry such "children" - some marry people who are younger. Posted by: on June 29, 2004 02:49 PM | permalink I think most of the high school problem with high school young people with their hormones ON not being mature enough to handle a relationship is that we're *expecting* them not to be mature enough to handle a relationship, and not teaching them the skills they need to handle one, just letting them find that out by trial and error. So of *course* they're not mature enough to handle an adult relationship. And teenage "children" having relationships with adults is going to remain happening here and there as long as teenagers have raging hormones. |
