The shortening of the liturgy that occurs in so many Reform temples doesn't really suit me - and I'm speaking of personal taste here, nothing more - and the intense speed with which so many Orthodox shuls tear through the liturgy will probably kubrick never feel right to me, as one whose reading Hebrew is weak. Also, Orthodoxy still seems suspicious of melody in prayer, or melody that seems too American. So between the guitars and organs of Reform and the hurried mumbles of Orthodoxy, I found some deeply felt, Hebrew, a cappella harmonies and melodies in Conservatism. |
